Three years ago, Jay County agency leaders, schools, the Portland Foundation, and parents asked, “How can we support our community’s families?” At the same time, the Prevention Framework was being piloted here in Jay County through Prevent Child Abuse Indiana — which says, “A community that provides opportunity for families to build on their protective factors, supports thriving families.”

Having little funding to start; we pulled our resources together and launched anyway! Our center is coordinated by a dream team from Firefly Children & Family Alliance, Purdue Extension, IU Health Healthy Beginnings, and the Department of Child Services — all guided by parent voices and agency volunteers.
